Italy is ready to take on the role of an intermediary in the negotiations on the establishment of trade turnover between Russia and the European Union. This was announced by the head of the association "Cognizant of Eurasia", Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Banca Intesa, Professor Antonio Fallico.

Fallico said he intended to raise the issue of creating a customs "green" corridor between Russia and Italy at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"There were many misunderstandings on the part of the European Union, but we explained that Italy is ready to implement the project as a pilot and, if it works for us, we should guarantee that the mechanism will be able to work in other countries of the union," RIA "Novosti" quoted him as saying.

According to him, it is necessary to create a group with technical experts who will prepare proposals for addressing certification issues and, starting from 2022, it will be possible to think about such procedures in Europe.

Fallico also noted that Italian companies that provide the lion's share of bilateral trade and about half of Italian investments in Russia will take part in the SPIEF.
