A list of non-environmental goods recommended for prohibition has been named in Russia

Russia may ban the production of 28 disposable products and replace them with eco-friendly alternatives, including colored PET bottles, plastic disposable tableware, cotton buds, tubes for toothpaste and others. The Russian Ecological Operator (REO) told journalists about it.

"Bag-in-box (multi-part packaging for beverages), doipack (flexible vacuum packaging, which is a plastic bag with a bottom), floopack (a bag with two cross seams and one longitudinal seam), jug-shaped bag, opaque colored PET bottles, plastic liners, plastic plates, plastic shell packaging, plastic tubes, stirrers and disposable cutlery, plastic cups, plastic beverage cup lids, toothpaste tubes and creams made of composite material, plastic coffee capsules, sachet bags, egg packaging, quail egg packaging, blister packaging (except medicines), retort packs," the REO cites the goods recommended for prohibition.

In addition, the list includes a glass and bucket for food, container and tray for food, mesh bag for food, vacuum or shrinkable bag and film up to 20 millimeters thick, multi-component container for canned food, aerosol packaging of composite material, box or pack for tobacco products, cotton swabs, foam plastic carrying tray.

These products are recommended to be banned once the infrastructure for the production of environmentally friendly alternatives is in place. The list should become one of the documents, which will be included in the project of the extended producer responsibility concept realization. In addition, in Russia it is planned to introduce eco-tax standards, which should encourage producers to switch to eco-alternatives.
