Alkor Bio Group, which is a participant in the "Made in Russia" project, conducted a study on the efficiency of its PCR tests. It turned out that the assay is able to recognize coronavirus strains despite the appearance of its mutations. The company's press service told the project.

PCR test was successful in detecting British, Brazilian, Indian, Moscow, Nigerian and Northwestern strains.

As explained the head of the laboratory Alkor Bio Anastasia Lisok, some experts have concerns that the variability of the virus will lead to a loss of sensitivity of test systems that are now on the market.

"Having studied the genomic databases, our developers suggested adding a third target - ORF8 (protein - note). This region is a distinctive feature of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and is not found in other members of the coronavirus family," Lisock said.

According to her, the company's PCR test can be used not only as the main test to detect the virus, but also as a confirmatory test if there are doubts about the validity of a particular result.

Recall that in July 2020, Alkor Bio received Registration Certificate of Roszdravnadzor for a new reagent kit "Intifica SARS-CoV - 2" for detection of coronavirus RNA by RT-PCR with fluorescent detection in real time.
