Moscow selects 20 food producers to bring their products to Shanghai stores

Moscow Export Center (MEC) has started to accept applications from Moscow food manufacturers for placement in Chinese retail chains, according to the press service of Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

In order to become a party one should apply on the IETC web site till August 13. There will be chosen according to several criteria. They include shelf life of the product, which should be from 9 months, also the products should have no components of animal origin, and their storage should not require subzero temperature.

It is noted that MEC will take full responsibility for the financing of product placement and promotion, as well as distribution within one year, legal services, customs clearance and logistics.

Goods will be supplied to major Chinese retail chains including OLE, 7-Eleven, G-super, JiuGuang and Century Mart. Products from the selected companies will appear in hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores and premium grocery chains. Exporters will be able to put two product positions on the shelves.

According to the press service, earlier Modena Coffee, a Moscow-based company, began supplying a specially developed line of freeze-dried coffee to the PRC. In addition, Moscow's Crunch Brunch peanut paste was in demand on the Chinese market. Both companies began to sell their products through the Tmall marketplace.

China now accounts for 22% of global food consumption, and the market is worth over $8 trillion, said Alexei Fursin, head of the agency. Now, he said, entrepreneurs from the capital city are already selling their goods in Asia, and the new IETC program will allow another 20 companies to start selling their products in Shanghai's largest retail chains.
