The winners of the Russian short film festival "Shorter" are announced

The ninth Russian short film festival "Koroche" ended in Kaliningrad. Its main award went to the film "How to Light an Extinguished Fire" directed by Sergey Filatov.

"The prize for best director" went to Anton Filipenko's "Flyuger", "The prize for best script" went to Anastasia Zavadskaya the screenwriter and director for "Aliens". Diploma of the Jury received a picture "Bro Brody" directed by Peter Timofeev, a special jury prize received "Phase" by Kirill Lukin. Anton Dorushenkov's "Avako" received the "Best Cinematography" award, and the jury awarded the "Best Animation" award to Anton Dyakov's "Boxcutter".

This year the festival also hosted the Kaliningrad debutants pitching in two categories: Short. No Limit and Short. Made in Kaliningrad. In the first category the projects of short films in any location were evaluated, in the second category the projects of such films were evaluated where shooting is planned in Kaliningrad. The winners of the pitching were two pictures: "The Farewell Administrator" from the script by Nikolay Lupanov, Alyona Pylaeva, Alex Kirillin and "Old People Have a Place Here" from the script by Irina Kozlovskaya, Alexander Gavrilov. Both projects will receive on 500 thousand rubles from the Union of Cinematographers of Russia and Fund of presidential grants.

For the first time, a new Red Carpet Studio team headed by producer Anton Kalinkin joined the expert jury of the festival. In total 36 films were shown in Competition and 35 in Out of Competition. The jury was made up of director Yuri Bykov, actors Maksim Lagashkin and Marina Aleksandrova, scriptwriter and director Anastasia Palchikova, animation director Konstantin Bronzit, and cameraman Sergei Kozlov. The jury was chaired by Igor Tolstunov, head of Profit Studio.

"Koroche" is a Russian short film festival that has been held annually in Kaliningrad in late August since 2013. This year it lasted from August 20 to 22.
