Fifth coronavirus vaccine EpiVacCorona-N registered in Russia

The Russian Ministry of Health has registered the fifth vaccine against covid-19 "EpiVacCorona-N". Such data follows from the state register of medicines.

"EpiVacCorona-N" was developed in the Scientific Center of Virology and Biotechnology "Vector" of Rospotrebnadzor. The vaccine is an improved version of EpiVacCorona. The difference, as explained by the developers, lies only in the production technology, which will make it easier to scale up the vaccine. The vaccine is based on a carrier protein and artificially synthesized peptides - small fragments of the S-protein of the new coronavirus. In EpiVacCorona-N, two of the three peptides are combined into one. This does not affect the immunogenic properties of the drug.

According to the instructions in the state register, the vaccine is approved for people from 18 to 60 years old. The production of antibodies occurs after two injections of the drug with an interval of 21 days.

Contraindications for vaccine use include: hypersensitivity to some components of the vaccine, severe forms of allergic diseases, reaction or postvaccinal complications after the administration of the first component, acute infectious and noninfectious diseases at the acute stage, malignant blood diseases and neoplasms, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Now the following drugs are officially registered and approved for vaccination in Russia: Sputnik V and Sputnik Lite of the Gamaleya center, EpiVacCorona and EpiVacCorona-N of Novosibirsk Vector center and CoviVac of Chumakov center.
