A Yakutsk company has developed an IT product for treating depressive disorders

Revro, a resident of Yakutsk IT Park, has created a VR helmet and an app for working through low self-esteem, the Made in Russia project was told by the Yakutia Press Center in Moscow.

"The IT product consists of a VR helmet and an application that can be used to conduct a series of exercises in virtual reality. At this stage, the MVP is ready and the product has been undergoing testing for more than a year. For the seed stage (seed round), the project team needs about 50 thousand dollars," the press center said.

Before putting on the helmet, the user chooses a character in the application with which he associates himself. After this, he "gets" in a room with a teenager who looks like himself, crying, which should be calmed and cheered up.

When the character stops crying, the user in VR-space finds himself in the place of a teenager and now hears these compliments of himself to his own address. Thus, according to the authors, a person overcomes the first threshold of "sincerely praise yourself".

The press center told that the team integrates immersive technologies in exercises for treatment of depression because in virtual reality vision is fully immersed in the virtual world and volumetricity of events enhances visual perception and accommodation of the game scenario. In the virtual reality space, a person identifies with and accepts the body and attributes of the virtual character.

"We have developed a prototype application to work with self-criticism at the NEFU site and have already tested it; we are also preparing an application for overcoming fear of public speaking," said Revro founder Yegor Vasiliev.
