Moscow Region has become Russia's leader in cheese exports

Moscow region has become the leader in the first half of 2021 in the ranking of Russian producers exporting cheese, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow region reported.

"According to the results of the first half of the year, the Moscow region takes the first place in the Russian rating of the largest cheese exporters. We increased exports by 20.4% to 29.5 million dollars compared to the same period last year," said head of the ministry Sergei Voskresensky, adding that in physical terms, cheese exports increased to 9.7 thousand tons, an increase of 19.7% over last year.

According to him, the largest volumes of cheese to other countries are supplied by "Hochland Russland" and "Lactalis Istra". The highest demand for Moscow region cheese was recorded in Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

"The share of Moscow Region cheese exports from the all-Russian exports (57.4 million dollars) was 51.4%," added the head of the department.

The second place in Russia for cheese exports in the first half of this year was taken by the Rostov Region, whose financial export figures amounted to 8.54 million dollars, the third by Moscow (7.76 million dollars) and the fourth by the Altai Territory (1.59 million dollars).
