Vladivostok development will require ₽15 billion and will attract businesses and tourists - mayor

Vladivostok authorities have developed a programme to improve the city centre, which involves 15 billion rubles in costs. Its implementation will increase the number of entrepreneurs and tourists, including those from nearby foreign countries, said Vladivostok Mayor Konstantin Shestakov during the "Small Business in the City Economy" session of the Eastern Economic Forum.

"We are now going to the federal level to present our big project - the development of the historic center of the city so that businesses can see themselves on these landscaped streets," he said.

However, in order to attract business in the first place, he said, the authorities need to get into the beautification of the city.

"This is a big project, in total it amounts to about 15 billion rubles. Of course, it will be implemented stage by stage," he specified.

The mayor noted that Vladivostok has already become a traditional holiday destination for residents of Japan, Korea and China. According to him, vacationers from these countries come to the seaside city because it is "the closest European city" for them. He noted that Vladivostok's Europeanization should be emphasized when making improvements for this reason, among others.
