Japan notes benefit of US-China rivalry for Russian exporters

Russia has significantly increased profits from food supplies to China amid a trade war between the U.S. and the republic. This was reported by the Japanese publication Nikkei Asia.

It is noted that sales of Russian products to China soared from $1.77 billion in 2017 by 123% to almost $4 billion in 2020.

The Far East is the main supplier of products to China, but the region may not have enough capacity to meet demand from the People's Republic of China. At the same time, many Russian producers lack the financial resources to enter the Chinese market, according to Nikkei Asia.

Recall that in 2020, Russia set a record for non-commodity non-energy exports to China. It rose to $16.3 billion, up 13% from a year earlier. In 2020, shipments of beef increased 4.5 times, with significant growth in rapeseed, poultry, sunflower oil and sweets.
