RSPP: Responsible Consumption will Solve Economic and Environmental Problems
Russian enterprises, while improving labor productivity, will be able to simultaneously reduce costs and switch to responsible consumption. Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), said this at the Eastern Economic Forum.
"We have very low labor productivity. We spend more materials, energy (than in developing economies) for the same product. The material and energy intensity of the Russian GDP is very low," he said.
At the same time, Shokhin stressed that for industrialists, responsible consumption is also responsible production. "We must think not only about the final consumption, but also about consumption during production. The planet is certainly overloaded with anthropogenic factors, but we are able to reduce this burden, solving economic problems at the same time," said the head of the RUIE.
He also noted that the issue of responsible consumption should be considered not only in terms of industry, but also in terms of housing and communal services. "There we also have excessive energy consumption in heating and water supply. Their reduction is an element of responsible consumption," he is sure.
The VI Eastern Economic Forum is taking place in Vladivostok on September 2-4.
