Two of Wimm-Bill-Dann's dairy plants will be fully carbon-neutral by 2040.

Two Moscow dairy plants - Tsaritsynsky and Lianozovsky (owned by Wimm-Bill-Dann) - are planning to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2040. In addition, the company will reduce the amount of primary plastic in packaging and use recyclable, compostable and biodegradable materials for it, said the press service of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

In summer Moscow authorities concluded a memorandum on cooperation for achievement of sustainable development goals (SDG) with "PepsiCo Russia" company (Wimm-Bill-Dann belongs to it).

"Tsaritsynsky and Lianozovsky dairy plants have been implementing a large-scale environmental programme in line with global sustainable development principles for a number of years already. Thus, in the last five years two Moscow plants have managed to reduce electricity consumption by 10%, thus saving about 120 million kW/hour, reduce water consumption by 18% and carbon dioxide emissions by 15%," said Vladimir Yefimov, vice-mayor of the capital.

The press service told that the company also announced a 50% reduction of primary plastic in packaging by 2030 compared to 2020, and the use of 50% of recycled plastic in the entire product range.

By the end of 2021, PepsiCo will fully switch to procuring energy from renewable sources-solar panels and hydroelectric power plants-that will cut greenhouse gas emissions from its own production by approximately 30%.
