The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation has compiled a list of the most polluting enterprises in the country, which includes about 500 facilities, said the head of the Ministry Alexander Kozlov in an interview with TASS.

The ministry, he said, currently has lists of hazardous or, "priority pollutants" that should be eliminated first.

"The list of the most "smoking" enterprises has been approved - there are 487 of them," the minister specified and added that a number of enterprises from this list have already begun to modernize their production.

For instance, 33 agreements totaling almost $500 billion were signed by some companies, more than half of which were spent on emission reduction measures, concluded Kozlov.
