Tour operators have launched vaccine tours abroad for Russians

Tour operators have launched sales of vaccine tours abroad so that tourists from Russia could get vaccinated with drugs approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), Interfax-Tourism reported.

Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), told the agency that because of the delay in the recognition of Russian vaccines by the WHO, some Russians are looking to get vaccinated with drugs with which they can visit most countries of the world. "Tour operators are ready to help tourists travel abroad for a WHO-recognized vaccination. Among the most popular countries for vaccine tours are Serbia and Germany," she said.

According to ATOR, demand for such tours already exists. Most frequently the inquiries come from Russians who often travel abroad for humanitarian reasons - for example, to visit relatives and friends, go to school or on business - as well as those who want to go as a tourist to European Union countries. Vaccination tours to Serbia, where foreign citizens are provided with free vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Astra Zeneca, and Sinopharm, are in the highest demand.

Total cost of the tour without a flight starts from 21 thousand rubles per person, with a flight - from 50 thousand rubles, ATOR director added. She stressed that foreign citizens are not allowed to make an independent appointment for vaccination or arrive at the vaccination site without making an appointment through the tour operator. In particular, in Germany this rule applies even to the object of accommodation - reservations should be made only through the travel company.
