Construction of a plant to produce the Russian vaccine Sputnik V has started in Hungary, said the head of the country's Foreign Ministry Peter Szijjártó, RIA Novosti/Prime reported.

According to him, the construction of the plant will be a "colossal contribution to the global goal of ensuring the sustainability of supply" of covid-19 vaccines. Production should be operational by the end of 2022.

He stressed that in Hungary, 68% of the population has been fully vaccinated.

"Sputnik has performed very well, especially if you look at the number of cases of infection after vaccination, the level of protection," he said.
