The Ministry of Industry and Trade may create a new price control scheme. According to RBC citing sources in the ministry, it is a question of rejection of tenders and transition to direct contracts.

It is known that Victor Yevtukhov, the deputy minister, instructed the Department of domestic trade development to study the possibility of making the procedure of direct contracts between chains and suppliers compulsory.

The current version of the law on trade does not regulate the format of procurement procedures for networks.

The department has declined to comment at this time.

Direct contracts with manufacturers prescribe the volume, terms and prices of supplies, as well as calculate inflation. This allows for advance planning of price increases and decreases, while direct contracts do not account for sudden demand fluctuations, weather or other external circumstances.
