Small and medium businesses in Russia will be able to buy software 50% cheaper

The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia has launched a new mechanism to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Now companies will be able to buy software twice cheaper by compensating 50% of the cost of the license to manufacturers, the ministry said.

"The new support measure is aimed at improving the efficiency of small and medium-sized companies as a result of digitalization, the introduction of domestic cloud solutions. We are talking, for example, about the software that automates business processes (ERP), customer interaction (CRM) and others. The idea is simple: demanded software products will be twice cheaper for SMEs (the difference in price will be compensated by the ministry to the developer from the budget)," the press service of the ministry said.

Russian copyright holders and cloud software developers may apply for participation in the programme. Entrepreneurs will not need to fill out any forms or provide reports. The only requirement is to be in the SME register maintained by the Federal Tax Service.

The support measure is implemented by the Russian Information Technology Development Fund (RFRIT) as part of the federal project "Digital Technologies" of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation". 7 billion rubles have been allocated for the implementation of this support measure until the end of 2024.

"The support measure will allow thousands of SMEs to legally use high-quality Russian software. In total, we will be able to offer companies more than 400 thousand cloud software licenses at a reduced cost. This will not only encourage companies to switch to domestic IT products but also expand and scale their business thanks to the digital transformation," said Alexander Pavlov, CEO of RRIT.
