Up to 34 billion rubles may be allocated for climate change research

The authorities are ready to support the federal program for climate change research. According to Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, up to 34 billion rubles can be allocated for this purpose until 2030.

"The program is very important for conducting the right climate policy in our country. It is aimed at solving problems associated with climate change. This concerns global warming and a number of other processes that are occurring with the climate on the planet," he said, speaking at the meeting of the Presidium of the Council on Science and Education.

It is assumed that within the framework of this work scientific and scientific-educational centers will be created, the advanced infrastructure for research and training of qualified personnel will be created.

Medvedev explained that this topic is extremely relevant now, but in the flow of information on climate change is "very difficult to understand", so well-trained specialists in this field are badly needed.

We recall that since 2023, the European Union introduces a carbon tax on imported products with high emissions of greenhouse gases. According to experts, it may affect about 40% of Russian exports.
