Russian woodworking companies are exploring opportunities to export their products to Germany, according to the website of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

On the eve of several domestic enterprises ("Ilim Timber", Segezha Group, "Lesnoyresurs", "Vologodskie Lesopromyshlenniki", "Region Les" and "Almaz-Logistic") during the online business mission presented to the German partners the products that they could supply to Germany. The event was also attended by representatives of domestic enterprises of the timber sector.

During the meeting producers were told about the current situation on the market in Germany and the European Union countries and named the products in which importers are interested.

According to the words of the RF Trade Representative in Germany Andrei Sobolev the German market of timber products is characterized by high demand and growing prices that in its turn influence on the increase of the export from Russia.

According to the Trade Representative, the turnover of timber processing companies in Germany is growing and as of today amounts to about 35 billion Euro per year. For instance, timber trade in Germany in the first half of the year has increased by 18% compared to the previous year.

"Against the background of all these factors there is an increase of Russian timber exports to Germany: in the first six months of this year timber was delivered for a total amount of 314.5 million dollars, which is almost 70% of the indicator of the entire 2020 and by 40.7% more than the indicator of its first half," - specified Sobolev.

The event was also attended by the head of the foreign trade bureau of the German Timber Trade Association, the general directors of Konrad Berger and Hecht & Kloth GmbH, the head of the purchasing department of Josef Schmelter GmbH.
