Russian film festival started in Azerbaijan

Domestic online cinema Kinopoisk in partnership with the Ministries of Culture of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan has launched the Russian Film Festival online festival in Azerbaijan. It will continue until December 5 this year, Kinopoisk's press service said.

"The festival will help and bring to a new level of communication between Russian cinema and the actively developing film industry of Azerbaijan. It is pleasant to see among participants of last years international festivals both vivid works of Azerbaijani cinematographers, and Russian co-production projects with Azerbaijan (for example, short film "The Last" of Sergey Pikalov)," general director of Roskino Evgeniya Markova said.

She expressed confidence that the parties have great potential in the development of co-productions. "I hope that thanks to the Russian Film Festival there will be more mutual interest in co-production," Roskino's general director added.

Subscription, which includes access to Kinopoisk, appeared in Azerbaijan this spring, says Yandex Media Services Content Director Olga Filipuk. During this time users have demonstrated interest in contemporary Russian cinema, she said.

According to Filipuk, the festival features the most interesting premieres of recent years. For instance, the festival films 'Kitoboy' and 'Dormouse', the high-profile blockbuster 'Sputnik' and films for family viewing ('Baikal. The Amazing Adventures of Yuma' and 'Konek-Gorbunok').

All films at the festivals are subtitled in Azeri.
