Major retailers temporarily halted shipments of footwear to Belarus

Russian companies Kari, Lamoda and Detsky Mir, as well as Nike brand have suspended shipments of footwear to Belarus amid difficulties with the import of labeled goods since November 1, TASS reported, citing a letter from retailers to the Council of Ministers.

Starting from November the suppliers have to send information on the marking of the goods before transporting them through Belarus. The companies say they have repeatedly sent information to the "Electronic Mark" labeling system, but the system produces errors that prevent the introduction of goods into circulation.

The letter specifies that the problem with the introduction of the Russian sample identification means is of mass nature. This led to the fact that the companies Lamoda, Detsky Mir, Sportmaster, Kari and Nike were forced to suspend shipments of footwear in Belarus, "as well as exports to the Russian Federation, due to the risk of being brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the legislation on labeling," as the proper information exchange between national labeling systems is not provided at the moment.

In this regard, the company representatives asked "to initiate action not only at the national but also at the interstate level" to resolve the situation, reads the letter.
