Russian companies need to implement ESG principles for exports

Sergey Katyrin, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation, believes that Russian entrepreneurs should work according to ESG-principles in order to enter foreign markets and to be integrated into production chains.

"These rails are used by Europe and the whole world and will continue to roll along these rails. Naturally, and every Russian entrepreneur who wants to enter foreign markets, just will be forced to work by these standards, to provide appropriate reporting. And the sooner each company begins to do so, the cheaper it will be," - he was quoted by TASS.

He noted that many domestic companies gradually begin to adhere to ESG principles in their work because it "resonates with the responsible approach to doing business: with respect to their employees, to the environment.

ESG - environmental, social and corporate governance - is a set of characteristics of company management, which achieves the involvement of the company in solving environmental, social and governance problems.
