Another Korean port will begin to receive Russian fishing vessels

Korean port of Pyeongtaek is ready to accept Russian transport refrigerators for transshipment of frozen fish products into refrigerated containers starting from December 13, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported with reference to the united press service of Rosryborovstvo. This will unload the port of Busan, which is the main port for transit of Russian fish exports.

Such agreements were reached as part of the implementation of an agreement between the Russian and Korean governments on cooperation to prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing of living marine resources.

"High demand for sea container shipments and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the transportation routes of fish products of Russian origin. It is reasonable to use transport potential of other marine terminals on the Korean Peninsula to ensure stability of supplies," the report says.

In this connection, the Federal Agency for Fishery of the Russian Federation studied the issue of development of logistics of Russian fish export through the port of Pyeongtaek.
