In Kuzbass, almost 25 thousand hectares of cultivated land have been returned to turnover after the revision of agricultural land that was abandoned after the collapse of the USSR, said Denis Ilyin, deputy chairman of the regional government for the agro-industrial complex.

"Since 2018, the villagers of Kuzbass managed to return to turnover more than 67 thousand hectares. Governor Sergei Tsivilev set the task to plow another 100 thousand hectares of waste land in the next three years. This work, as well as modernization of production, in the future will significantly increase the volume of the harvest, improve the profitability of agricultural enterprises, provide permanent jobs for the villagers and ensure food supply of the region", - he said and added that this year 24.8 thousand hectares of land were returned to the region.

The government stressed that the farms, which have increased their cultivation due to the cultivation of abandoned land, may receive state support in the form of compensation of up to 90% of the costs incurred during the development. In 2021 27.5 million rubles will be allocated for this purpose from the regional budget. Eighteen enterprises will be subsidized.
