Michelin Guide in Moscow influenced the inflow of tourists to the capital

The appearance of Michelin Guide in the Russian capital in October had a positive impact on demand for gastronomic tours in Moscow, said Ekaterina Pronicheva, chairman of the City Tourism Committee.

She said that after the awarding of the stars to nine Moscow restaurants in search engines there was a large number of requests from foreigners to travel to Moscow.

"The number of inquiries from guests from Arab countries has increased because of new gastronomic spots, which one wants to visit and include in their list of attractions," - shared Pronicheva.

Tourists come to Moscow for different reasons: for business, sightseeing, shopping or gastronomic purposes, she continued. Now the committee is studying the purpose of the travelers, but to choose among them, she said, is impossible. She explained that even people who come to work and now make up the most part of tourists in the metropolis are also gastronomic tourists, they also visit museums and theaters.

This fall, the Michelin Guide has given two stars to two restaurants in the capital and one star to seven. In total, the guide includes 69 Moscow establishments, and 15 received the BIB Gourmand mark, which means that these restaurants serve "good food for reasonable money".
