Mineral fertilizer purchases in Russia increased by 20%
Russian agricultural producers bought 4.68 million tons of mineral fertilizers in 2021, which is almost 20% higher than in 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
"This allowed, according to preliminary data, to raise the level of application to 55 kilograms per 1 hectare of sown area on average in the country (in 2020 - 50 kilograms per 1 hectare). The growth of application volumes has contributed to a decent yield of major crops. Thus, the gross yield of sunflowers, soybeans, rapeseed, fruits and berries is the highest in the history of the Russian agro-industrial complex," the ministry said.
In 2021, due to a significant increase in the price of mineral fertilizers in Russia, a headquarters was created to monitor its supply, the ministry recalled.
Earlier the country began to operate a regime of price containment among fertilizer producers. The companies have agreed to fix the prices for mineral fertilizers for agricultural producers till the end of May 2022.
