By order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, 2016 has been declared the Year of the Russian Federation in the Hellenic Republic and the Year of the Hellenic Republic in the Russian Federation. This step was taken in order to implement an extensive programme in both countries in science, education, culture, economy, tourism, sports and religion.

As part of the development of scientific and technical cooperation with the European Union, May 23 at the University of Patras a seminar was held with the participation of representatives of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky (CAHI) - Deputy Director General of the Institute - Head of Aircraft Strength Complex Mikhail Zichenkov and Head of Cooperation with European Countries Evgeny Andreev.

An important event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between TsAGI and the University of Patras, aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation in the field of aerospace research and development through the implementation of national, bilateral and European framework programs.

During the seminar, the TsAGI delegation discussed cooperation prospects with representatives of the University of Patras and the Hellenic Aerospace Industry of Greece. The parties outlined plans to develop cooperation, in which specialists from the Faculty of Aeromechanics and Aerospace Technology of MIPT are expected to participate.
