The developer and manufacturer of educational simulators "PO GEOTAR" in 2020 took part in the International specialized dental exhibition-conference UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai), which was held in the International Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE.

"PO GEOTAR participated for the first time in AEEDC Dubai, which is considered to be one of the world's leading exhibitions in the industry. Every year the event brings together more than 2 thousand companies from around the world to demonstrate the latest technology and developments in dentistry. As part of the event, software company GEOTAR presented its updated Leonardo hybrid simulator for training and assessing the skills of specialists in dentistry.

AEEDC Dubai

AEEDC Dubai (The UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition) is the world's largest dental exhibition, held in Dubai since 1996. The exhibition annually brings together dentists, nurses, dental assistants, teachers, students, ministry representatives, therapists and radiologists, members of dental associations, and manufacturers and traders of dental equipment.

The 2020 exhibition and conference was attended by about 4,800 exhibiting companies with more than 4,000 brands from around the world. The exhibition activities took place in 12 exhibition halls and 15 national pavilions.

PO GEOTAR, founded in 2018, is engaged in in-house development and production of educational simulators ("Leonardo", "LEO+", etc.), modernization and refinement of existing educational simulators, as well as development and implementation of hardware and software complexes for conducting Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) with the possibility of video-audio recording and automation of the accreditation process of specialists. At the same time, PO "GEOTAR" is a participant of the project for creating and operating the Innovation Center "Skolkovo".

The company also provides warranty and post-warranty maintenance of the manufactured products and systems, carries out training of end users, constantly takes part in specialized exhibitions in Russia and abroad.

Leonardo simulator

One of the GEOTAR software products is a hybrid dental simulator Leonardo. This simulator is designed for training and accreditation in the field of dentistry, as well as for the automation of the educational process. The device allows to conduct trainings on dental practice, reproducing real conditions of patients' treatment and exactly imitating the work on dental unit. Leonardo" simulator makes it possible to conduct training sessions on application of local anesthesia, caries treatment of all types, teeth trimming in orthodontics (inlays, veneers, crowns, bridges), as well as free preparation.

The machine also includes "X-ray", a tool that allows you to take a picture of the teeth of the working jaw. The computer control of all operations allows an objective assessment of the work and makes it possible to view the entire preparation process in computer graphics and synchronous video recording from the camera installed. It is also possible to practice tooth extraction techniques on the device (without computer control).

Microsensors monitor the performance of interventions with real-time visualisation on the virtual model. Mobile dental unit allows you to practice manipulations on a real jaw model.

Unique software shows real instrument positions on a 3D model of the jaw and tracks accuracy using electromagnetic tracking technology. The software includes a function for downloading clinical cases, allowing you to study real cases from medical practice and conduct training on them. The interface is in English and Russian and can be easily localised into other languages.

Training simulators "Leonardo" installed in one educational institution can be connected to the local network which allows to broadcast the lesson and the video stream of the manipulations performed from the teacher's workplace to the students' workplaces and back. Each student's learning progress is stored in his/her individual folder for subsequent analysis of his/her progress and problem cases.

Approbation in foreign universities

PO "GEOTAR" products are used for operation in higher education institutions at the departments of dentistry, simulation centers to form manual skills of dental students, as well as control of manual skills of trainees in postgraduate education.

Since December 2019, the Leonardo simulator has been on trial at Ajman University (UAE) - Gulf Medical University. Since February 2020 the simulator has been transferred for approbation to the University of Tours (France).
